Staff at a Nottingham academy say they're delighted with the school's latest Ofsted rating. It comes after Bluecoat Beechdale Academy, in Bilborough, was given an overall rating of 'Good' - the same rating it received in its previous inspection in 2017.
Ofsted inspectors found that pupils at the school were friendly and polite, with a desire to learn and high levels of punctuality. Pupils told the inspectors that they felt safe in school, high expectations were made clear to them, and that they were rewarded for being kind, curious, resilient and positive.
The school was described as wanting every pupil to aim high in education and in life, and staff members were described as proud of their pupils and praised for thinking carefully about how best to support individual pupils and involve parents.

Principal Sarah Bailey said: “This report captures our ethos and summarises the excellent education, support and care that we offer our students. It is testament to the hard work and commitment of our staff. Regardless of whether they are support staff or teachers, every member of our team does their upmost to ensure our young people and their families get the very best education possible.
“The inspectors were able to see excellent education in the classroom and the exceptional behaviour of our students. They are the reason we come to work every day, and I am delighted that we have received this external validation for the great work we continue to do for our children.”
During the two day visit, inspectors praised the school for learning beyond the classrooms, through highlighting opportunities to be sports leaders, visit universities, and making props for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Instances of bullying at the school were found to be rare, classrooms and corridors orderly and the arrangements for safeguarding effective.
The inspectors also highlighted the whole-school approach to teaching, and a rapid improvement to the provision for children with special educational needs and a varied programme of careers advice and guidance. Inspectors recommended that the delivery of the PSHE curriculum should be more consistent, and that in some subjects staff should support pupils to embed key concepts to help them produce high quality work across all subjects.
Sian Hampton, chief executive of the Archway Learning Trust, which runs the school, said: “We are extremely proud of everyone at Bluecoat Beechdale Academy, this is a brilliant inspection report and testament to their hard work. As a trust, we put high-quality teaching and learning in all that we do, and we are delighted that this has been acknowledged.
"The inspectors recognised all the amazing work we do to ensure we have a safe and calm site, so students can learn in an inspirational setting. We will continue to drive forward to greater heights in the knowledge that everything about the school is on an upward trajectory."
