New Delhi: Delhi registered its cleanest December air since the introduction of the Air Quality Index (AQI) system in 2015, with an average AQI at 294, officials said.

According to the officials, the national capital saw the cleanest air owing to strong, consistent winds in the first half of the month and record-breaking rainfall in the second.

According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), December marked Delhi's cleanest first half ever, with only one 'very poor' air day recorded during the first half of the month.

City’s AQI
On Monday, the city’s AQI was recorded at 173, the "moderate" category. While on Sunday it was in poor category.
The air quality index recorded in the national capital at 8 am today was 179, categorised as moderate, according to the data CPCB.
An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'. (With Agency Inputs)
