NEW DELHI: Expressing his displeasure over two “mischievous and misleading” tweets posted from Aam Aadmi Party’s official handle that dragged his name into a row over alleged irregularities in the Delhi government’s Excise Policy 2021-22, lieutenant governor V K Saxena asked chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to remove them immediately, sources said on Monday.
The tweets were later removed by AAP, of which Kejriwal is the national convener. No immediate reaction was available from AAP.
In the communication to Kejriwal, sources said, the LG had cited two “brazenly mischievous, misleading and defamatory tweets” by AAP, which had Saxena’s photograph.
“In the tweets, the word LG instead of ‘ex-LG’ was used with the picture of present lieutenant governor V K Saxena to deliberately misrepresent facts and mislead people,” sources said. “The LG sought removal of the tweets and an apology. When he raised the matter with the CM, the tweets were removed,” said a source.
On Saturday, deputy chief minster Manish Sisodia blamed former LG Anil Baijal for allegedly changing his stand at the last minute over opening of liquor vends in non-conforming areas and alleged that it had caused a huge loss to the state exchequer and a windfall gain to a few licensees.
