Delhi: Fire breaks out at Safdarjung Hospital's old casualty building, none hurt

Fire breaks out at Safdarjung Hospital

New Delhi:  A fire broke out in the front portion of the ground floor of the Old Casualty Building at Safdarjung Hospital here in the national capital on Tuesday morning.

According to officials, the incident occurred around 10.20 AM. Immediate action was taken by the local security guard to extinguish it.

The Fire Management Team of Safdarjung Hospital, along with personnel from the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and officials from the Estate Section, reached the spot. The Medical Superintendent also arrived.

The hospital's fire safety system activated and effectively contained the fire. Window panes were broken to facilitate the escape of smoke.

0The Medical Superintendent personally supervised the evacuation process.

The Delhi Fire Services deployed seven fire tenders and took approximately an hour to completely extinguish the fire.

There were no casualties reported, and property damage was minimal.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Following the incident, the Medical Superintendent called a meeting with all stakeholders, including CPWD, the Estate, and the Fire Management Team.

CPWD has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive assessment to determine the extent of damage and necessary repairs. (ANI)
