Delhi court accepts CBI closure report in case against Roys

A Delhi court has accepted the CBI’s closure report in a case against NDTV founders Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy over allegations of criminal conspiracy linked to an ICICI Bank loan.

“No criminality or violation of Section(2) of Banking Regulation Act, 1949 has been found by any of the accused,” said Special Judge (PC Act) Shailender Malik of the Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday, according to Bar and Bench.

The CBI case was filed against Roys, RRPR Holdings and NDTV in 2017 on a complaint made by Sanjay Dutt, a director of M/s Quantum Security Private Limited. The complainant had stated that Roys and RRPR Holdings had obtained a loan to acquire a 20 percent stake in NDTV and had entered into a criminal conspiracy with officials of ICICI Bank.

The CBI had filed the closure report last year.
