Delhi-bound IndiGo flight makes emergency landing in Patna after engine trouble; all passengers safe

A Delhi-bound Indigo flight (6E-2433) made an emergency landing at Patna airport on August 4 after one of its engines developed technical snags. The aircraft was carrying 181 passengers and 8 crew members and all passengers were safe.

“After 10 minutes of the take-off from Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport in Patna, the aircraft developed technical snags in one of its engines. There were 181 passengers on board along with 8 crew members. However due to the caution of the pilot, a major incident was averted,“ an airport official said.

The technical snag in the engine was detected as soon as the plane took off from Patna airport this morning after which the aircraft was brought back to Patna airport and safe landing was made. The faulty aircraft has been kept at Patna airport and the engineers are busy repairing it.

After the plane landed, all the passengers entered the airport from the second gate and preparations were made to send all the passengers back to Delhi. As per the sources, the passengers were sent to Delhi from the Indigo flight which came from Ranchi.

Anil Kumar Sinha of Patna, who was traveling in Indigo’s flight, explained his ordeal inside the plane and said, “After 10-15 minutes of take-off, the air hostess started announcing that everyone should fasten their seat belts, buckle up and tilt the head towards the front seat. After this, a loud noise started coming from the engine as well. Due to which all the passengers got scared. There was an atmosphere of panic inside the plane.”

Another passenger, Neeraj Agarwal, posted the inside video of the aircraft on his social media account and wrote about his experience.

“After 20 minutes of Indigo flight going to Delhi, the pilot announced that he would have to return to Patna, all the air hostesses came quickly announcing to hold the front seat and rest their head between the hands on the front seat. There was a lot of noise in the aircraft and turbulence was being felt again and again. The air brakes were open; there was a very loud engine noise,“ Mr. Agarwal said in his post.

He further said, “The landing did not go smoothly, just before landing all the flight attendants started shouting loudly, “Heads down, heads down. The tension in the plane was on its peak; everyone was praying to God and the flight made an emergency landing. The pilot very intelligently handled the situation even when there was an engine problem. Met both pilots in the lounge and thanked them wholeheartedly. Sankat Mochak saved us. After the landing, a loud cheer came out of my mouth; there was a loud scream in the aircraft - Bajrang Bali Ki Jai. I was scared when turbulence happened.”
