Dele Alli responds to Besiktas boss' brutal comment amid honest Everton loan admission

Everton loanee Dele Alli has made an honest admission about his difficult spell with Turkish giants Besiktas.

The 26-year-old has been on loan in the Super Lig since the end of August but finally ended his drought for the Kara Kartallar, scoring his first goal since the beginning of September. He was on target, alongside former Blues forward Cenk Tosun, in their 3-0 win over Alanyaspor.

It's been a tough few months for the England international as his time away from Goodison Park has landed him in the headlines for the wrong reasons. Earlier this month, he was jeered off the pitch inside the first half-hour of their Turkish Cup defeat to Ankaragucu following his substitution.

"I'm happy to score a goal and get three points. We showed a strong performance in front of our fans," he said speaking after they moved to within three points of second-placed Fenerbahce.

"I may not have been able to deliver what was expected until now, but this match was an opportunity. I will try to contribute to the team as much as I can."

Dele's loan spell away from the Premier League has been far from uneventful as negative reports have emerged. In October, the club were forced to release a statement dispelling rumours about the terms of his move.

And just a matter of days later, Senol Gunes began his public criticism of the midfielder who hasn't been capped by England since 2019, claiming Alli 'didn't deserve' to play amid his form in Turkey.
