Everton midfielder Dele Alli has announced that he is taking a break from social media while recovering from hip surgery.
The 27-year-old had been enduring a difficult loan spell in Turkey with Besiktas, but that was cut short last week when it was confirmed that that former Tottenham star has suffered a season-ending injury and has since returned to England.
Now Alli has shared a photograph of himself on social media, in his hospital bed after undergoing surgery.

He wrote: “Surgery done, all successful and okay. Thank you to everyone of you who has sent me messages of support. Unfortunately, this means my season has come to an end. I want to take the time to say a big thank you to you Besiktas supporters for all the love that you have showed me whilst being at the club.
"It’s been a tough few weeks and I want to ensure I’m doing everything I can to focus fully on my recovery. I’m gonna take a break from socials, hit my recovery hard, and come at full strength. I will be back when I’m ready. See you all soon"
Alli moved to Goodison Park on January transfer deadline day last year on an initial free transfer that could rise to £40million is certain performance benchmarks were met. But he struggled to hold down a place in the Blues' starting XI and was loaned to Istanbul Super Lig side Besiktas at the the start of this season.
He made just 13 appearances for the Black Eagles, scoring twice, in a difficult period.
