Delays on A1 caused near Newark after generator falls from lorry

Drivers were stuck in traffic on the A1 after a generator had fallen off the back of a lorry on the Southbound side. Nottinghamshire Police have apologised to anyone stuck in traffic at North Muskham, near Newark, due to the incident.

Part of the highway was closed whilst the generator was recovered by the forces Team 2 on Monday, August 15. In a tweet, Nottinghamshire Police said: "#Team2 had busy day yesterday!

"Apologies if you were stuck in traffic on the #A1 Southbound near #NorthMuskham, this generator had fallen off the back of the lorry meaning the #A1 was closed by #Team2 whilst it was recovered."

Drivers also experienced delays further south down the A1 near South Witham after several escaped horses were loose on the carriageway. Lincolnshire Police and Lincolnshire Highways worked together to close the road for the safe capture of the horses.

It is not yet known how they escaped.
