Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou says Dejan Kulusevski could return from injury in next week’s Europa League quarter-final second leg against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Kulusevski has been out since the beginning of March with a foot problem that has caused him to miss Spurs’ last seven games across all competitions.
Last week Postecoglou revealed the Swede was “progressing well” in his recovery, but ruled him out of Thursday’s first-leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium which ended in a 1-1 draw.
The hope was that the attacking midfielder, along with January signing Kevin Danso would be available for selection against Frankfurt in Germany on April 17.
Speaking to TNT Sports after a rather frustrating first leg result, Postecoglou delivered an update on a return timeline for both players, whilst ruling out the possibility of either starting the second leg.
He said: "Touch and go, the idea with Deki and Kevin Danso is they are due to start training with the team probably early next week.
"I don't think they are a possibility to start but Kulusevski has a chance to be involved."
Spurs were made to rue a series of missed chances in the second half against Frankfurt as both Lucas Bergvall and Rodrigo Bentancur hit the woodwork whilst Heung-min Son and Micky van de Ven, right at the death, were denied by superb saves from
Reflecting on the performance, Postecoglou said: "On any other night we go away with a comfortable victory. We have to go there and we knew it would get decided in the second tie. If we repeat that performance we give ourselves a chance.
"I don't expect the second game to be to open, it'll be cagey affair and it'll come down to moments.
"The second leg is going to be tight for sure, it might even go to extra-time, we're going to need all the lads ready to go. The good thing is we have most of them back and healthy which is important."
