Dejan Kulusevski's new name for Cristian Romero after Tottenham defender's Leicester masterclass

Cristian Romero delivered one of his best performances in a Tottenham shirt on Sunday afternoon as they got back on track with a 3-1 victory over Leicester City. Making his mark in N17 since his summer switch from Italian side Atalanta, the Argentina international came out of the game with plenty of praise following a towering performance.

The 24-year-old was sensational across the 90 minutes and produced a number of timely tackles, blocks and interceptions to help out his team, as well as also pushing on regularly to give his Tottenham teammates another option in the final third. Romero also had a major impact in the team's second goal of the afternoon, making a crunching tackle on Caglar Soyuncu that allowed Dejan Kulusevski to tee up Son Heung-min to give Spurs a bit of breathing space.

Kulusevski, who registered two assists after coming off the bench in the second half, was clearly very impressed by his teammate's performance and paid him a huge compliment on Instagram after the game. "It's only going to be up to us. Let's go @spursofficial," wrote the defender on his Instagram account, with the Swede dubbing him as "Cuti Beckenbauer" in the replies following his defensive masterclass.

Franz Beckenbauer is regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of football, captaining West Germany to glory in the 1972 European Championship and also the World Cup two years later. For Romero to be compared to one of the all-time greats by Kulusevski is quite something.

Speaking after the game and his fine double, Son also waxed lyrical about his teammate's performance against the Foxes. While the South Korean obviously gets the credit for the team's second goal, the attacker was quick to point out Romero's role in his strike.

"Obviously, you're scoring goals, but you're not scoring alone," explained the South Korean after the game. "There's always a previous action. Cuti won it back twice, so he made one tackle and then the second tackle was obviously risky, which a defender has to do sometimes.

"Cuti did an unbelievable job, not only in this situation but the whole game. He was fantastic. This goal for me goes to Cuti because he deserves the credit 100%. I'm very happy to score the goals, but this one goes to Cuti."
