Deion Sanders is anything but conventional. And apparently, the new Colorado coach got rid of an age-old football tradition and replaced it with something much more fitting for “Prime Time.”
Sanders doesn’t have any captains on his team, so no players don the coveted “C” on their jerseys. Instead, players were seen with a “D” or an “L” where the captain insignia would usually go during the team’s 45–42 upset win over TCU on Saturday. Apparently, Sanders has named certain players to be “Dawgs” or “Leaders,” Buffaloes assistant athletic director Curtis Snyder said.
Before the unranked Colorado squad shocked the football world, Sanders sent kicker Jace Feely, cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter, defensive lineman Shane Cokes and quarterback Shedeur Sanders to the coin toss.
This is TOUGH 😤

Feely and Hunter boasted a “D” on their jerseys while Shedeur, Sanders’s son, and Cokes wore an “L.”
The young signal-caller certainly led this weekend. He broke the school’s record for passing yards in his debut when he threw for 510 yards and four touchdowns. Meanwhile, Hunter caught 11 passes for 119 yards and also intercepted a pass.
Any way you label them, these stars come to play.
