The defense in NY v. Trump announced on Thursday that it intends to renew its motion for a mistrial following the testimony of pornographic actress Stormy Daniels. This decision came after the defense revealed that it had three applications to bring up, which include a renewed motion for a mistrial and a gag order.
These applications are set to be discussed after the evening testimony scheduled for 4 p.m. ET. The defense's move follows Judge Juan Merchan's previous denial of their request for a mistrial on Tuesday. During that hearing, defense attorney Todd Blanche argued that Daniels' testimony was prejudicial.
Despite the defense's concerns, Merchan ruled that a mistrial was not warranted. He assured the courtroom that he was taking measures to control the witness, even going as far as objecting to Daniels' testimony himself. Merchan acknowledged that some statements made during the testimony could have been better left unsaid.
