Defense Challenges Prosecutors' Link Between Cash Withdrawals And Alleged Crimes

U.S. President Biden's son Hunter Biden is pictured in Delaware

The defense in the ongoing trial is challenging the prosecution's assertion that Hunter Biden's cash withdrawals are directly linked to the alleged crimes of gun purchase and drug involvement. During the questioning of FBI special agent Erika Jensen, defense attorney Abbe Lowell raised the possibility that some of the cash withdrawals attributed to the gun purchase might have been intended for rehab and addiction treatment.

Special Agent Jensen had previously testified that Biden withdrew cash on the same day he used cash to buy a gun in October 2018. However, Lowell highlighted that there were other cash transactions from Biden-linked accounts during that period that were earmarked for rehab purposes.

While Lowell did not dispute the fact that Biden paid for the gun in cash, he emphasized the existence of other cash payments for rehab around the same time frame. This line of defense aims to create doubt regarding the prosecution's narrative that all of Biden's cash withdrawals were related to criminal activities.
