Defender sends clear Nottingham Forest message after transfer misery

Defender Loic Bade says he has no regrets about his January departure from Nottingham Forest.

The 23-year-old’s loan spell at the City Ground from Rennes was terminated early without him playing a single game in the Garibaldi. He went on to join Sevilla, where he has made 19 appearances and scored two goals so far - including against Manchester United in the Europa League.

Because he had already featured for his parent side earlier in the season, playing for the Reds towards the end of his time Trentside would have prevented him from representing a third club. And for that reason, Bade says he takes heart from how things worked out.

"Three clubs in a year is tough, that's football,” he told Sevilla’s official website, in a translated interview. “Sometimes it's going well and at other times not as much.

“In France we say that it might have been bad, but was good in certain respects too. If I had played for Nottingham, I would not be here. As I didn't play there, I am now here.

"Monchi (sporting director) already knew me. He spoke with my agent and wanted me here. I spoke with him and I felt very good. Everyone knows that Sevilla is a big club and that's why I wanted to come here."

The Frenchman signed for Forest on deadline day in the summer. It was intended to be a season-long loan, with an option - said to be worth £12 million - to make his move permanent.

He got minutes in friendlies against Stoke City and Valencia during the World Cup break last year but was unable to force his way into head coach Steve Cooper’s plans. He has quickly settled into life at Sevilla, however, and particularly enjoyed finding the net against United.

"I have seen many things. That was my best goals. That night was just very emotional. I don't know what to say,” he said.

Bade added: "I have adapted well. There are many people that speak French in the changing room.

"I have been learning (Spanish) in school. I have classes after training with Tanguy and Pape. We are practising so that we can speak well. I have adapted well.”
