Actor Deepika Padukone has become first Indian actor to appear in French fashion house and luxury retailer Louis Vuitton’s campaign. The 34-year old actor took to photo sharing app Instagram to announce the association.
In a post she wrote, "I am beyond thrilled to be joining the Louis Vuitton family! To be a part of Nicholas Ghesquière's vision for the world’s most iconic brand is not only exciting but also very humbling! Presenting... #LVprefall20."
Louis Vuitton's Pre-Fall 2020 campaign featured the actor dressed and styled in the luxury brand’ pre-fall collection. Dressed in a checkered black and white midi dress, Padukone posed for the campaign. She paired the dress with a grey overcoat, a mini belt bag from the brand along with a pair of green quilted boots. Inspired by pulp horror movies and books, the campaign shows Padukone posing in front of poster of Don’t Turn Around, a fiction thriller by Michelle Gagnon.
Padukone’s association with the luxury brand was also announced by Nicolas Ghesquière, a French fashion designer, who has been the creative director of the house of Louis Vuitton since 2013. The actor has been picked by the designer along with 24 other male and female celebrities including Sophie Turner, Léa Seydoux, Alicia Vikander, Chloë Grace Moretz among others.
Padukone has been promoting global brands such as L’Oréal Paris and Coca-Cola in India. She is the second most powerful celebrity endorser in the country with a brand value of $102.5 million and over 21 brand deals as of 2018.
