Deebo Samuel says Seahawks are bigger rival to 49ers than Rams

The Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco square off twice a season with both of them in the NFC West, but Deebo Samuel doesn’t believe the Rams are a rival to the 49ers right now. When speaking about San Francisco’s biggest rival right now, Samuel shared that he views the Seattle Seahawks as such over the Rams.

“There’s no secret. We just go out there and play ball,” Samuel said on the Candlestick Chronicles podcast, via Niners Wire. “I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s a rivalry. I would say Seattle is more so a rivalry with the back and forth, and how many times they’ve beat us and we’ve got a couple here and there. They’re playing really good right now, so we know what’s at hand when we get to that point, but right now we’re more focused on the Chargers.”

Since Samuel was drafted by the 49ers, San Francisco is 8-0 against Los Angeles in the regular season. Just this season, the 49ers defeated the Rams by a combined score of 55-23 in their two meetings.

The only win that the Rams have gotten against the 49ers with Samuel on the roster was in last year’s NFC title game to advance to the Super Bowl. With Los Angeles securing a Super Bowl victory last season, they’d prefer to go 0-8 against a division opponent in the regular season if it meant getting a Super Bowl ring.

That being said, it’s fair for Samuel to say that the Seahawks are bigger rivals as the 49ers are 2-5 against them with Samuel on the team. It’s known that the 49ers and the Rams don’t like each other, so Samuel’s comments will certainly add fuel to the fire.
