Declan Rice 'has never seen anything like Elland Road' as midfielder hails Leeds United supporters

West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice says Elland Road is a 'tough' ground to visit due to the 'proper' atmosphere the Leeds United home support create. The Hammers captain also likes visiting Everton's Goodison Park, but he says he has 'never seen anything like' the Whites' home support.

Elland Road may be a difficult stadium to visit as an away player, but Rice boasts a 100% win record at the ground. In each of the last two seasons, West Ham have won 2-1 at Elland Road, albeit one of those matches was behind-closed-doors. Last term, Rice claimed an assist as Michail Antonio scored a last minute winner at Elland Road.

“Going to grounds such as Leeds and Everton last year, they are such tough grounds,” Rice told Tubes and Ange’s Golf Life. “And their players are strong men.

“Then the crowd (get behind them). I feel like going to grounds and it’s a tough stadium. Like Leeds, I have never seen anything like it. It’s proper. I love it. I love getting stick from opposition fans. I am buzzing off it.”

This season, Declan Rice and his West Ham team-mates visit Elland Road on Saturday, January 2, with the reverse fixture on Saturday, May 20.
