Chelsea have already spent over £100 million in the January transfer window, with the arrival of Mykhailo Mudryk demonstrating their spending power.
Many have criticised the £400 million spent since the summer, with the total sum for players joining the club higher than any club has ever spent in a single season. However, the spending could well continue with the injury ravaged Blues currently some way off Champions League qualification at present.
A new midfielder could be a priority, along with reinforcements in both wing back roles following a succession of injuries suffered by Ben Chilwell and Reece James. One thing is for certain, the money is there for Chelsea to keep spending to improve their squad whether it is needed or not.

There are some big names linked with a potential transfer to Chelsea this month and here we take a look at who the bookies are tipping to join the Blues.
Declan Rice - 8/1
A former Chelsea academy player, Rice has evolved into one of the most impressive midfielders in the Premier League with his skills at both ends of the pitch impressing for a number of years now.
Arsenal look to have taken an advantage in the race to sign Rice, with their need for a central midfielder clear and Champions League qualification virtually secured for next season.
However, with his links to Chelsea, it should not be ruled out that Rice could join childhood friend Mason Mount in west London rather than the Gunners in north London.
Denzel Dumfries - 6/1
Reece James' injury record means that, despite him being arguably Chelsea's best player, he needs backup and Dumfries could fit the bill.
A reported asking price of just £35 million could mean that the Dutch international is favoured over other options in the position and with Chelsea the current favourites ahead of Manchester United and Spurs for his signature this is definitely one to watch.
Moises Caicedo - 9/4
The Brighton midfielder is now being linked as the latest name to be joining Chelsea this month in what could amount to a £70 million deal for the Ecuador World Cup star.
Having worked with Graham Potter at Brighton he would appear on paper to be a sensible acquisition for a long-term project, however, the projected outlay for Caicedo could raise eyebrows considering what has already been spent.
Rafael Leao - 6/1
Having competed with Joao Felix for a place in the Portugal team at the World Cup, Rafael Leao continues to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge where he could rival his compatriot once again.
Despite the arrival of Mudryk and Felix who can both operate in Leao's favoured role on the left-wing, he still has odds of 6/1 for a move having impressed against Chelsea in the Champions League this season.
Wilfried Zaha - 6/1
Another left winger, Zaha is also linked with a move to Arsenal and with the 30-year-old out of contract in the summer would represent a bargain deal for either club.
Following their remarkable spend this season it would be prudent for Chelsea to pursue some bargains, however, with Zaha operating on the left-wing it would be another player to compete in what is now a very crowded position.
