Declan Rice bid launched as Manchester United switch targets and Liverpool watch on

The transfer window is beginning to take shape for a number of clubs.

There promises to be plenty of business between Premier League sides, with Kai Havertz expected to swap Chelsea for Arsenal and Mateo Kovacic already joining Manchester City from the former.

As far as Liverpool's business goes, Alexis Mac Allister remains the sole addition to the squad at present after signing from Brighton as part of a £35million deal.

Listed below is a round-up of the current activity of the Reds' rivals, who will each be looking to strengthen this summer ahead of the new season.

Manchester City

The Citizens are said to have launched a bid for West Ham midfielder, Declan Rice. The England international, who is also a target for Arsenal, helped the Hammers to Europa Conference League glory earlier this month and is in high demand.

Arsenal have already seen two bids turned down for Rice and it remains to be seen how West Ham respond to Manchester City's offer. The Guardian state the Sky Blues' have put forward £80million plus a further £10m in add-ons. It is claimed the London side are 'holding out for at least £100m'.

The report adds Pep Guardiola met the 24-year-old towards the end of last season, with sources suggesting City 'would find a way of getting the deal done'.

Manchester United

Manchester United's £55m bid for Mason Mount 'remains on the table', though the Red Devils are beginning to turn their attention elsewhere after struggling to thrash out a deal with Chelsea.

Sky Sports have listed Moises Caicedo and Adrien Rabiot as two other potential targets for Erik ten Hag's side. The latter is out of contract at Juventus this summer and is yet to make a final decision over his future.

Arsenal

Mikel Arteta's side will be looking to issue a response to the competition they are facing for Rice and the above article speculates the sense until now has been the player's preference to join Arsenal.

The Gunners are 'planning' a third bid and will be expected to counter City's offer by meeting the extortionate asking price set by West Ham. A potential boost for Arsenal relates to the fact that Rice 'does not want to leave London' as he weighs up the next move in his career.

Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs are 'set to launch' their opening offer for Leicester City midfielder, James Maddison.

The England international is expected to seek pastures new this summer after suffering relegation from the Premier League, with Newcastle United also understood to be showing interest.

Leicester are holding out for £60million for Maddison, though Tottenham's initial bid is expected to be an initial £40 million and 'want to strike a compromise' which will include add-ons and further instalments, according to the Telegraph.

Newcastle United

Newcastle are eyeing a deal to recruit Southampton full-back Tino Livramento and are understood to be in 'advanced talks' over a transfer, as reported by the Telegraph.

Negotiations are 'currently ongoing' between the clubs, though the sides remain apart on their valuation on the player at this moment in time due to the Saints' £30m asking price.

Livramento caught the eye during the 2021/22 season but missed the majority of last campaign after sustaining an ACL injury in April 2022.

Chelsea

Chelsea have reached a verbal agreement as regards personal terms with Brighton midfielder, Caicedo.

The Londoners, still struggling to strike a breakthrough over a transfer fee for the services of the Ecuadorian, have made progress on the player's demands. Football.london add that Brighton and Chelsea are yet to agree on a price for Caicedo and this remains a 'key problem'.
