Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber deals, Kai Havertz announcement - A perfect Arsenal transfer week

Arsenal are moving on multiple targets early in the transfer window and with less than two weeks of it being open, the club has already made some major inroads into negotiations for players. One has been agreed with two more moving positively.

The club want to ensure the majority of their business is done before preseason kicks off, football.london understands. Mikel Arteta is hoping that if not by the trip to Germany to face Nurnberg that the US tour taking place in mid-July will see his new recruits begin their integration into the side.

There's more than just new signings to consider, however, and as players return from their holidays, news of new contracts being announced will be high on the agenda. A number of young stars have already agreed to new extensions but we await official news from the club.

With all of that in mind, football.london takes a look at what a perfect week would look like at Arsenal from Monday, June 26.

William Saliba and Reiss Nelson

There is still to be official news regarding the extensions of both William Saliba and Reiss Nelson. football.london understands that both players have progressed in talks positively and the Frenchman in particular is understood to have verbally agreed to increase his stay with the side, whilst Nelson was not included on the list of outgoings of players like Ainsley Maitland-Niles whose deals expired.

Kai Havertz announcement

After agreeing a £65 million deal with Chelsea, Kai Havertz is understood by football.london to have completed a medical over the weekend ahead of his switch to Arsenal. Mikel Arteta has spoken publicly about the German international’s talent recently too and an announcement is likely to occur very soon.

Agreement with Ajax for Jurrien Timber

Arsenal are progressing in their hope of signing Jurrien Timber. A second bid has been submitted by Arsenal football.london understands with their hope of a compromise around the £40m figure. This comes down significantly on the €60m (£51.3m) asking price the Dutch side had when talks began last month. Personal terms on a deal to 2028 have already been agreed with the player.

An end to the Declan Rice saga

There is hope that after several weeks of discussions and two rejected bids by Arsenal that this week will see the conclusion of the Declan Rice saga. football.london understood last week that a bid from Man City was anticipated although the treble winners have, as of yet, still not made their interest formal with a proposal.

With Rice's preference being Arsenal, should the Gunners agree to West Ham's changing valuation there's a strong expectation that he will indeed be moving to North London no matter other clubs' efforts. It could be a very exciting week indeed.
