Declan Donnelly looks emotional as he claps for NHS on his doorstep with wife Ali

Declan Donnelly and his wife Ali Astall took part in last night's clap for carers as they headed out onto their doorstep to give thanks to the brave NHS staff on the frontline of this pandemic.

The telly presenter, 44, looked emotional as he expressed his gratitude to the heroic medical staff around the country.

The Saturday Night Takeaway host donned a comfy striped T-shirt and shorts as he stood next to his wife, 42, outside their fancy west London home.

Ali - who tied the knot with Dec in 2015 - wrapped herself up in a long knitted cardigan as she clapped at 8pm.

It comes as ITV favourites  Ant McPartlin  and  Declan Donnelly  have led stars in a touching tribute video to  NHS  workers.

The footage, which was released across social media channels, sees stars from around the country share moving thank you messages to frontline health workers who are currently risking their lives to help others in the  coronavirus  pandemic.

In the video, a whole host of celebrities say the words: "Thank You."

These 64 famous faces include Oscar-winner  Olivia Colman, actor  Tom Hiddleston, funnyman  David Walliams, singer  Billie Eilish  and her brother Finneas, EastEnders'  Danny Dyer, pop star  Gary Barlow, presenter  Claudia Winkleman, and actress  Dame Julie Walters.

Ant and Dec can be seen holding up a sign displaying: "#ThankYouNHS #OurNHSPeople."

As part of the Thank You Thursday campaign that has sprung up nationwide, we have also seen large portions of the British public take to the streets and Clap For Carers and other frontline workers.

Dec has been filming his TV show  Saturday Night Takeaway  alongside presenting partner Ant McPartlin.

The Geordie duo were forced to present the highly anticipated final from their homes amid the nationwide lockdown in place for the  coronavirus  pandemic.

Ant and Dec took the advice to "work from home where possible" quite literally as they presented the show from their own living rooms for the first time ever.
