Aaj Ka AQI is a new show aimed at fixing accountability for a solution to India’s air crisis. In the third episode, Newslaundry went to the Supreme Court on Thursday.
The AQI in Delhi hovered around 340, or the ‘very poor’ category. In this episode, we look at the Supreme Court’s interventions on air pollution. Outside the court’s premises on Thursday, the air detector showed the PM 2.5 level around 270 and PM 10 at 310 despite the fact that it was windy.
It was the Supreme Court that ensured that emergency measures were imposed when AQI level reaches a certain threshold. Of late, it has laid into government bodies for their lax enforcement.
This show is part of a collaborative campaign to tackle air pollution. Here’s how you can join the Fight To Breathe.Click here to power this campaign.
