Ashley Chandrasinghe has scored a century on his Sheffield Shield debut to help Victoria progress to 6-322 at lunch on day two against Tasmania in Hobart.
Left-handed No.3 Chandrasinghe, who resumed overnight on 63, moved to 107no at the end of the first session on Sunday, combining for an unbroken 49-run stand with Matt Short (27no).
Chandrasinghe, 20, displayed the same composure and patience he had watchfully showcased on day one, while upping his scoring rate as his innings advanced.
He raised his ton off 311 balls with perhaps the best shot of his knock, a marvellous straight drive for four off Beau Webster.
The Tigers' attack, spearheaded by pacemen Peter Siddle (2-48) and Riley Meredith (2-53), struck twice before lunch.
Nightwatchman Scott Boland (13) was the first to go, stumped by Tim Paine off the bowling of Jarrod Freeman.
Nic Maddinson was in an aggressive mood and decided to take Freeman apart, advancing down the pitch to the spinner and tonking a four, six and four off consecutive deliveries.
But the next over, Maddinson's brief cameo of 16 off eight balls came to an end when he was skittled by seamer Jackson Bird.
