Hugh Jackman’s ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness has said her split from the Hollywood actor is both “a little frightening” and “kind of exciting”.
The Shame actress, 68, and Wolverine actor Jackman, 55, stunned the world last year by announcing they were going their separate ways after 27-years married.
And now Furness has shared her thoughts about her divorce in a new interview with The Daily Telegraph.
Speaking specifically about the split, she said: “You know what, change, transition, evolution is a little frightening and we are all a bit scared of it but I think it is probably our greatest gift,” she said. “It is kind of exciting.”
In September 2023, the couple announced their split with the following statement via PEOPLE: “We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage.
"Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”
The couple said the “highest priority” was their two children: Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18.
“We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness,” they added.
“We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”
Earlier this year, a source close to the couple said they reportedly felt it was “time to divorce” after 27 years together.
According to ET, the couple were on “different pages” when they made the difficult decision to separate. The outlet reported there was “no animosity” following the move.
A source is reported to have said: “Hugh and Deborra-Lee are both on different pages and in separate chapters of their lives.
“They felt like it was time to divorce, but they still maintain a happy and cordial friendship.”
“At the end of the day, it was their collective agreement to go their separate ways and do the healthiest thing for everyone involved.”
Jackman is set to release a tell-all book about his life and relationship.
Reports suggest The Greatest Showman actor is in the early stages of writing the memoir, which will feature details of his life and “bombshell” revelations.
