Deborah James shares heartbreaking comparison photos on return to 'favourite place'

Deborah James took to social media and shared devastating comparison photos as she attended the opera with her husband, Sebastian.

The 40-year-old activist, also known as Bowel Babe online, was dressed to the nines to watch La Boheme at Glyndebourne in Sussex.

Dame Deborah looked stunning in a silver dress and matching shawl, but shared a throwback photo of herself in the same place from five years ago.

In 2017, the mother of two looked fresh faced wearing a black sleeveless dress and drinking champagne, writes the Mirror.

She had just been diagnosed in 2017 (Instagram)

She also shared a pic of her and Seb in Glyndebourne's grounds with the caption: "Seb looking dapper in his black tie."

Sadly Deborah is now unable to walk and admits just getting dressed is "exhausting".

But she isn't going to let her illness stop her from getting out there.

Taking to Instagram, comparing the photos, she said: "I was actually here five years ago to the week last time.

She always looks so stylish (Instagram)

"At that point I was seven months into my diagnosis, and once again just trying to make the most of not knowing what lay ahead."

The star then posted a heartfelt message, thanking the opera company for accommodating her.

Sharing the pic of her decked out in her finery, sitting in a wheelchair, she said: "Another day, brings another excuse to spend half of it exhausting myself getting dressed up to go to one of my favourite places!!!! @glyndebourne to watch #laboheme - But totally worth it.

"Thank you @glyndebourne for being so lovely and welcoming tonight -doing all this in a wheelchair is certainly a new challenge to learn!

"I can’t believe I was last here 5 years ago this week - scared, newly diagnosed, just trying to do the same as I’m doing now - taking things one day at a time!!"

The star was made a Dame last month for her monumental efforts to raise cancer awareness.

Since starting her journey, Deborah has raised more than £6million for charity and touched hearts across the globe with her story.

She is a tireless campaigner with her latest plan aimed at getting loo roll companies putting bowel cancer signs on their packaging.

In news which shocked her friends, the podcast host revealed she was receiving end of life care last month.

But Deborah has once again defied all odds and outlived doctors' expectations.

Admitting she was living off sheer "adrenaline", the star continues to inspire her family, friends and fans on a daily basis.
