Deborah James's touching gesture from her father as she has 'no strength'

Dame Deborah James has shared a touching gesture from her dad on Father's Day. The bowel cancer fundraiser said she has "no strength" to brush her own hair anymore.

Her father Alistair happily picked up a pink hairbrush to help his daughter look her best. Dame Deborah is currently living in her parents' home as she receives end of life care. She wrote on a picture of her father helping her: "Happy Father's Day! Yes my Dad is brushing my hair because I have no strength anymore to brush this..."

Dame Deborah issued a sweet message to Alistair. She told The Sun : “I’ve not always been a big one for telling Dad how much I love him, so take it from me, just say it. You never know when it might be your last chance.”

She also heartbreakingly spoke about not living long enough to see the day that her son, Hugo, who is aged 14, get married. “I can’t really comprehend the fact I won’t be here to see that," she said.

"It breaks me. The biggest thing for me right now, not knowing how long I have left, is that the kids will be Ok."

The cancer campaigner has so far raised more than £6.7m for her BowelBabe Fund.
