Deborah James finding 'diamond moments in the rough’ as she enjoys rare meal out

Deborah James said she’s ‘trying to find the diamond moments in the rough’ as she enjoys a meal out during her end-of-life care.

The podcaster, who was recently awarded a damehood by the Queen, was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer in December 2016, and has tirelessly raised awareness and vital funds for Cancer Research ever since.

Deborah sadly revealed last month that she was receiving hospice care and doctors didn’t know how long she had left to live, prompting her to relocate to her parents’ home in Surrey to spend her final days with her family and friends.

She has been updating her followers with news on her health, and shared a touching picture from a rare trip out at a lavish country estate.

The mum-of-two uploaded a snap on Instagram, showing her beaming as she tucked into a delicious dish while sat in the glorious sunshine at the Beaverbrook estate in Leatherhead.

“Happy Friday! Feeling grateful to be able to enjoy another moment of sunshine on my face, and food that makes me smile!” she wrote.

“Just trying to find the diamond moments in the rough - but when you look hard enough you realise they can still be there! Thanks as always for your amazing messages and love. Have a good one,” Deborah added, as she signed off for the weekend.

The star looked glamorous as she held a cocktail in one hand, and rocked a dress from her In The Style range, which is raising money for her Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK.

Deborah, who has raised more than £6.5million after launching her fundraising efforts in May, candidly spoke about her devastating cancer diagnosis, and said she felt “blessed” to have outlived doctors’ expectations yet again.

“I’m taking life day by day and just continuing to feel blessed to have another day knowing that my time is limited,” she said during an interview on Lorraine`.

“At the same time, if truth be told, I’ve already outlived, yet again, what I was told when I was sent home from the hospital,” Deborah added.

“Even I’m a bit surprised. But I think it’s having that sense of purpose, getting involved, continuing with the campaigning which is keeping me going,” she shared.
