A man has sparked a debate over office etiquette with a picture posted to discussion forum Reddit - showing milk padlocked shut in a fridge. The man posted the image with the headline 'Peak petiness or justifiable security in the office kitchen', showing a plastic bottle of Tesco milk protected with a security device and padlock.
The image posted by Vented55 quickly attracted more than 2,000 comments, with people divided over the action.
RustyNoodle 3891 said: "If people didn't take what's not theirs there would be no need. I wouldn't go that far with milk but people lost food at the last place I was at. 12 hour shift with no food ain't a joke." Rusty added: "I once ate someone's Rustlers burger (yes I know) by mistake because I used to take them in sometimes.
"I was mortified when I realised what I had done and trekked round the whole factory to find the person it belonged to and apologise. Luckily they saw the funny side and happily ate what I'd actually brought in for myself."
MrSilver76 said: "As someone who used to buy a 2 pints of milk every week, only for it to be completely empty by Wednesday morning, I totally understand the rationale."
WilliamBlair added: "I'm always happy to share my milk in the office, but the amount of times I have found that MY milk which I bought is completely empty with no replacement offered/available makes me feel this is completely justified. Nothing worse than making a cuppa only to find that someone finished the milk and left you high and dry (of milk)."
