Publisher Secret Mode and developer Sumo Newcastle announced that the upcoming game DEATHSPRINT 66 will officially launch on Sept. 12, 2024, for PC via Steam.

Ahead of the eight-player, on-foot racing game's release, there will be two dedicated test sessions planned this month.

The first one is scheduled on Aug. 8, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET to 2:00 p.m. PT / 5:00 p.m. ET. The second one will be on Aug. 9, 2024, from 6:00 a.m. PT / 9:00 a.m. ET to 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET.

DEATHSPRINT 66 Official Release Date

The official description of DEATHSPRINT 66 describes the story as being set in the year 2066 where the Backman Media Network is once again set to dominate the world of brutal entertainment. This is with its latest series of their headline show.

DEATHSPRINT 66 will have players take control of a Clone Jockey who has an endless supply of clones at their disposal in order to compete in DEATHSPRINT, according to Gematsu.

In this upcoming game, players can take part in intense eight-player PvP on-foot races that will be run across different extreme obstacle courses.

You can run, jump, drift, and slide your way through deadly tracks and chain together traversal in order to enter a flow state and earn HYPE.

HYPE is what fuels a range of exciting and deadly abilities, such as Boost, Seekersaw, Mag-Shield, EMP Blasts, and Proximity Mines. If you can deploy your abilities at the right time and in the right place, it can spell the difference between victory and death.

Intense, On-Foot Races

Bachman Media Network's efforts come as in the world of DEATHSPRINT 66, entertainment has been long forgotten during times of war, climate change, famine, and survival.

It aims to rectify this by providing people with never-before-seen game shows filled with high-stake, heart-pumping moments, said GamesPress.

Players who were able to get an early look at DEATHSPRINT 66 during a brief teaser at Future Games Show as well as at the Game Developers Conference 2024 saw the potential that it had. Some described it as being similar to Mario Kart but with a lot more gore and a lot less kart.

Those who played the game early experienced DEATHSPRINT 66's simple arcade racing controls and had an early look at its weapons, traps, and maneuvers. Players will see a lot of gore, especially when the game launches later this year, according to PCGamer.
