Death Toll In Kazakhstan Plane Crash Climbs to 38, Official Says

A devastating plane crash near the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan, claimed 38 lives and left 29 survivors from a total of 67 people aboard, as authorities are already investigating the cause of the tragedy.

An Azerbaijani Airlines Embraer 190 was en route from Baku, Azerbaijan, to Grozny, Russia, but was forced to divert due to poor weather conditions and a reported bird strike.

It attempted an emergency landing in Aktau, Kazakhstan, where it tragically crashed just 3 kilometers from the airport, AP News reported.

Preliminary reports indicate that weather and technical issues, including a potential bird strike, may have contributed to the crash.

The survivors, including two children, are receiving medical treatment in local hospitals, and authorities from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Russia are collaborating in the investigation.

Flight tracking data suggests possible GPS interference, which could complicate the investigation.

Azerbaijan Airlines has suspended flights to Russia's Chechnya region, while authorities continue to investigate the exact cause of the crash.

A government commission has been dispatched to the crash site, and both the Azerbaijani and Kazakhstani governments have pledged to assist the families of the victims and survivors.
