Members of the Shivamogga unit of Rashtrabhakti Balaga staged a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Shivamogga against the demand for the resignation of Rural Development & Panchayat Raj Minister K.S. Eshwarappa. in connection with the suicide of contractor Santosh Patil.
The protesters said the Minister should not resign over the death of the contractor. “Mr. Eshwarappa is a popular leader. The people who do not tolerate his increasing popularity are demanding his resignation based on a WhatsApp message. The allegations made against the Minister are baseless,” according to a member of Rashtrabhakti Balaga.
Mr. Eshwarappa has already denied the allegations made by Santosh Patil, and also moved court with a defamation petition against the contractor. The court had admitted the petition and served a notice to the contractor. The Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj had already responded to the allegations of the contractor. The government’s work could not be executed without following set procedures, according to Rashtrabhakti Balaga.
MLC D.S. Arun, Shivamogga City Corporation member Channabasappa and others participated in the protest.
