DeAndre Hopkins says he isn’t looking for a raise

The Arizona Cardinals are shopping wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and nothing appears to be in the works. Reports are that the Cardinals have a firm asking price and that Hopkins’ contract might be an issue.

There is also the belief that he is looking for more money.

Hopkins would like people to know that isn’t the case.

He quoted himself on Twitter on Sunday.

“Hopkins doesn’t want a raise” – Nuk

Hopkins is due $34.4 million over the final two seasons of his contract. He is scheduled to make more than $19 million in 2023. None of it is guaranteed.

It has been reported that he would be willing to adjust his deal to make it work for the right team.

That doesn’t mean he necessarily would take a paycut but he is willing to restructure his contract to make it work for the salary cap.

Previous restructures make his overall cap hit more than $30 million for the Cardinals in 2023 and, even if he is traded, his contract will count more than $22 million against the cap in dead money charges for prorated money already paid that had not previously counted against the cap.

Many expect the Cardinals to deal Hopkins by the NFL draft or during the draft. We will see how things play out with the contract, money and deal.
