DeAndre Hopkins is the Titans most important contract decision after the season

The Tennessee Titans are in the first year of a rebuild. They fired head coach Mike Vrabel and allowed running back Derrick Henry and quarterback Ryan Tannehill to depart. That trio led the Titans to many wins over the past several seasons.

New head coach Brian Callahan is bringing a different philosophy to Tennessee. The Titans are committed to developing second-year quarterback Will Levis and spent the offseason surrounding Levis with more weapons, including wide receivers Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd and running back Tony Pollard.

One player Tennessee did bring back was veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. The 32-year-old 12-year veteran enters his second season with the Titans and is in the final year of a two-year contract he signed last summer. The new regime still appreciates Hopkins, as the sides have discussed an extension.

Bleacher Report recently named the most important contract decision for every NFL team ahead of the 2024 season, and Hopkins was Tennessee’s pick.

Hopkins had a solid first season in Tennessee, making 75 catches for 1,057 yards and seven touchdowns. But his contract is about to expire and he’ll be 33 years old in 2025, forcing the Titans to make a tough decision in the offseason, especially since the front office will have to consider how much the wideout’s absence could hinder Will Levis’ development.

This is a big year for Hopkins. With Ridley and Burks under multi-year deals beyond 2024, Hopkins could be competing with Boyd for a role in 2025.
