DeAndre Hopkins is taking it personally that teams like the Cowboys and Niners passed on signing him

New Tennessee Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins sounds like a player ready to prove wrong anyone who thinks he’s past his prime

Speaking with GQ Sports for a wide-ranging interview on his Hall of Fame career, Hopkins mentioned his free agency process and sounded like he’s not ready to forget about the NFL teams that didn’t reach out with interest to sign him to a deal after he was released by the Arizona Cardinals.

While he mentions in the piece that he’s more than happy about where he ultimately chose to sign in Tennessee, he does seem particularly peeved by those who didn’t feel like he was worth any interest.

“I’m very grateful for where I am, I think I made the best decision,” he told GQ in the interview. “But when you’re a player and some people feel like they’re great without you, and then you see what they have on paper, or you see what they do, you mark those games down, as a competitor. I can’t wait to play’ em and, honestly, try my best to crush they ass.”

So which teams exactly would Hopkins be referring to?

GQ Sports‘ Clay Skipper, the author of the piece, said the wide receiver took a moment before he repeated the question, “as if he doesn’t have the list memorized, or perhaps weighing whether or not he wants to stir things up.”

“Detroit Lions, they didn’t want me,” he told GQ. “Dallas Cowboys didn’t want me. Giants didn’t want me. [Expletive]. Who else ain’t want me? San Fran ain’t want me.”

Skipper notes in the piece that Hopkins seemed lighthearted about the whole affair, which means the new Titans starter might just take delight in proving the doubters wrong as opposed to carrying around any hard feelings about it.

Hopkins also tweeted this on Thursday, which could further hint he’s all good with how everything has shaken out for his fall.

While Hopkins noted in the piece that he didn’t want to take a discount to just join a Super Bowl contender, it sure sounds like he’s got more than enough faith in the Titans to facilitate his comeback tour.

As for the other teams who didn’t show interest in him, Hopkins sounds like he’s particularly ready to play your defense.
