Dean Henderson has been ‘lined up’ for a permanent transfer to Nottingham Forest this summer, if David de Gea signs a new contract with Manchester United.
The goalkeeper spent last season on loan at the City Ground, where he impressed with his performances as Forest’s number one. He, however, picked up an injury in January which ultimately ruled him out for the rest of the season.
Forest moved in the winter window to complete the loan signing of Keylor Navas as a replacement. But he has since returned to Paris Saint-Germain, leaving Forest on the search for a goalkeeper this summer.

Henderson is the number one target, and it seems that Man United are open to a deal, on one condition. According to the Daily Mail , he has been ‘lined up’ for a £15m plus add-ons move to the City Ground this summer, if De Gea commits his future to the club.
There is still uncertainty over if that will happen. But even if it doesn’t then Forest may still have hopes of signing Henderson this summer.
The report goes on to say that the goalkeeper would be ‘an option’ to take over as number one at Old Trafford. But United ‘want’ to sign a new shot stopper this summer, something which would again free up Henderson to complete a move to the City Ground.
In his 16 Premier League games for Forest last season, the goalkeeper recorded six clean sheets, including shut outs in 1-0 wins over West Ham United, Liverpool and Crystal Palace. His final appearance of the season came in a 2-0 home win over Leicester City, where he picked up the injury that ended his season.
Henderson has since undergone surgery on the problem but should be back fit in time for pre-season. If that is with Manchester United or Forest is still to be seen.
