A popular toy doll sold to almost 20,000 people in Ireland is being recalled due to an “unacceptable chemical risk”.
The Bella City Chic doll was on sale in Dealz stores and the safety watchdog estimates around 18,986 of them were sold in Ireland.
The impacted dolls are said to have “unacceptable levels” of a chemical that is “unsafe for young children”.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission issued a recall notice on Tuesday, explaining: “The risk associated with the product is a chemical risk.
“The product contains unacceptable levels of a chemical that are classified as unsafe for young children.”
The affected toy has a Dealz product code 452987 and a batch number 2007, which can be found on the back of its packaging. The barcode is 5054110024185 and the brand is unknown.
Anyone who has bought the doll is advised to stop using it and return it to a shop for a full refund.
The CCPC continued: “Dealz are asking any consumers who purchased the dolls to return the product in store for a full refund.
“The customer care line is 189 093 0843 (ROI). Monday – Saturday, 9am to 5pm GMT, Closed Sunday and Bank Holidays.”
Separate recall notices were also issued on Tuesday for a Giraffe Soft Toy Keychain and a Kids’ Inflatable Paddling Pool, both sold on eBay.
The Giraffe Soft Toy Keychain poses a risk of choking.
The CCPC said: “The risk associated with the product is that of choking. Small parts (metal fastener) may easily detach from the product. Furthermore, the seam on the front right foot easily breaks, allowing access to the stuffing material.
“A small child may put them in the mouth and choke.”
The brand is Sunny Toys and the type/number of model is 37008/20563. The batch number is unknown and the barcode is 4014466370085.
A spokesperson advised: “The product was sold online through the eBay platform. Given the online availability of this product, it may have been sold to customers in the Republic of Ireland.
“If you purchased one of these products, please discontinue use immediately, discard the product immediately and keep it out of the reach of children. You may wish to contact the online store from where you purchased this product to see if there are any remedies available to you. This can be done via your user account on the relevant platform.”
The issue with the kids’ inflatable paddling pool is unsafe levels of the chemical DEHP.
The CCPC said: “The risk associated with the product is a chemical risk. The product contains unacceptable levels of the chemical, DEHP, that are classified as unsafe for young children.”
The brand, batch number and barcode of the pool is unknown, but the type/number of model is 402858363880.
