Dealer threw bags of cocaine on roof during police chase

A dealer who tried to get rid of drugs by throwing them on a roof while being chased by cops has been jailed for almost six years. Ellis Kilbride, 24, was trying to make his escape from police after they raided a house Farrell Street in Warrington.

While being chased on foot, Killbride, of no fixed address, was trying to throw bags of crack cocaine that he had stuffed in his trousers. A short while later he was finally caught and arrested near to neighbouring Wharf Street but continued to throw the drugs on to the roof of a nearby building.

Kilbride also resisted arrest by pushing and pushed an officer in the chest. He was then searched and a large amount of class A drugs and £2,980 of cash were seized.

Officers arrested him on suspicion of possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and he was taken to custody. He was then charged and remanded the following day.

The warrant was executed at around 5.25pm on Friday 3 June 2022. Kilbride appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday 7 July and pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker and possession with intent to supply crack cocaine.

He was sentenced on the same day to five years and seven months imprisonment.

Detective Sergeant Tom Hall, of Warrington local policing unit’s proactive team, said: “Kilbride arrest initially came from information provided by the local community in relation to allegations of youths buying drugs from two people at Brickfield Park.

“That information then led us to the property on Farrell Street and to Kilbride’s arrest.

“He made great attempts to evade police capture while discarding the drugs he was in possession of, and assaulting an officer, however it wasn’t going to stop us.

“In cases like this we do rely on information that is provided to us by members of the public and I would encourage people to continue to contact us if they believe drug related activity is occurring in their community.”
