Deal or No Deal set to return to screens with MAJOR shake-up after seven years

Deal Or No Deal will be returning to our screens with Stephen Mulhern taking on the role of host.

The original series was presented by Noel Edmonds for 11 years when it launched on Channel 4 in 2005.

And now, the series is making a comeback on ITV after seven years.

The new series will see "a brand-new setting with brand-new prize boxes and a new batch of contestants".

Casting is currently underway for Deal Or No Deal - a gameshow which sees contestants choosing one of 22 boxes, each containing a cash amount between 1p to £250,000.

Britain's Got More Talent presenter Stephen is excited about the revival and said he's been a "huge fan of the show".

"Wow what an opportunity, I’m beyond excited to be hosting the brand-new series," he said.

“I’ve always been such a huge fan of the show, so much so, I’ve been practising at home with small cereal boxes!

“It looks so simple but it’s an incredibly compelling game for both those playing and the viewers watching at home."

He continued: "It’s one of the greatest shows of all time and to be the new host is an honour.

“I can’t wait to get started.”

Deal Or No Deal contestants have to try to win as much money as possible by gambling or having a good amount of cash in their chosen box.

They can also make the game's Banker offer a significant cash sum for their box regardless of what is inside.

The show is based on the original Netherlands series from 2002.

Ahead of the show’s return, the broadcaster’s head of entertainment commissioning Katie Rawcliffe said: “Deal or No Deal is such an iconic format and we are delighted that it will be joining the ITV family.

“Stephen’s infectious warmth and wit mixed with his natural rapport with members of the public is the perfect combination for this much-loved TV series.”

Stephen is best known for being a presenter on Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, the spin-off game show In For a Penny, plus Catchphrase, which he has hosted for a decade.
