'Deal off' - Rangers loan bid for Sevilla midfielder Joan Jordan rejected

Rangers have reportedly had a loan bid for Joan Jordan rejected by Sevilla.

It's claimed the Ibrox club tabled an offer to sign the Spanish central midfielder for the upcoming season.

However, the deal is said to be off due to Sevilla not being willing to subsidise the player's wages.

Fabrizio Romano reported the Rangers transfer interest on Saturday but warns the player is expected to remain at Sevilla - where he is under contract until 2027.

Jordan, 30, played 13 times for the La Liga club last season but it's thought the Spanish side will keep hold of the midfielder.

As reported by Romano, the structure of the loan approach would have seen Rangers sign Jordan on a temporary deal while paying part of his salary.

Sevilla would have had to cover a chunk of Jordan's wages should the tabled offer have been accepted.

The transfer specialist reports: "Sevilla have rejected proposal from Rangers for Joan Jordán to join the Scottish club on loan.

"Sevilla have no plans to cover part of the salary for Jordán as Rangers required, deal currently off.

"Jordán, under contract until 2027 and currently expected to stay."
