Residents of St. Lucie County, Florida, were left reeling after a series of tornadoes tore through the area, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. Larry Leet, a long-time resident, described the unprecedented damage caused by the tornadoes that swept through the county.
According to reports, at least nine tornadoes touched down in St. Lucie County on Wednesday afternoon and early evening, causing widespread devastation. The tornadoes wreaked havoc on a golf community and a mobile home community, resulting in multiple fatalities.
Leet confirmed that six individuals lost their lives in St. Lucie County as a direct result of the tornadoes. While there were rumors of higher death tolls circulating, Leet emphasized that only six deaths have been officially confirmed in the county.
Across Florida, a total of 16 individuals have tragically lost their lives due to the tornadoes unleashed by the storm named Milton. Additionally, approximately 30 people have been hospitalized with storm-related injuries.
Search and rescue operations have been completed, with authorities stating that they do not believe there are any more individuals unaccounted for. The community is now coming together to support those affected by the disaster and begin the process of recovery and rebuilding.
