On Friday, a tragic suicide bombing at a train station in Quetta, southwestern Pakistan, resulted in the loss of at least 24 lives, with 53 others sustaining injuries. The incident, which occurred at the city's main railway station, was confirmed as a suicide bombing by local authorities.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist militant group operating in the region, has claimed responsibility for the attack. The blast took place on a platform during a busy morning hour when numerous passengers were present, exacerbating the impact of the explosion.

Security forces swiftly responded by cordoning off the area, initiating investigations into the heinous act. Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has ordered a thorough inquiry to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the bombing.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has unequivocally condemned the attack, expressing solidarity with the victims and their families during this difficult time. The insurgency in Balochistan, which has persisted for decades, has intensified in recent years, particularly following the leasing of the Gwadar port to China as part of the 'Belt and Road' initiative.

The BLA, known for its violent activities, has been linked to several deadly attacks in Pakistan this year, including the recent assault on a convoy of Chinese engineers and investors in Karachi, resulting in the tragic deaths of two Chinese citizens.
