Deadly Shooting Near Mosque In Oman Leaves Six Dead

Tragedy struck in Oman's Wadi Al-Kabir region as a shooting near a mosque resulted in the deaths of at least six individuals. The Royal Oman Police confirmed that among the casualties was a police officer, and over two dozen people of various nationalities sustained injuries, including four Omani first responders.

Authorities reported that three perpetrators involved in the attack were identified and subsequently killed during the exchange with law enforcement. The incident also claimed the lives of at least four Pakistani nationals, with an additional 30 Pakistanis currently undergoing treatment at local hospitals.

The Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly denounced the attack, labeling it as a 'dastardly terrorist attack.' Expressing gratitude for the swift response by Omani authorities, the ministry emphasized the importance of neutralizing the attackers to prevent further harm.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the tragic event, extending condolences to the families of the victims. He directed the Pakistan Embassy in Muscat to provide comprehensive support to the injured individuals and personally visit them in the hospitals.

India also mourned the loss of one of its citizens in the shooting, with another individual sustaining injuries. The Indian embassy in Muscat confirmed the casualties and expressed solidarity with the affected families during this difficult time.

Following the completion of military and security procedures by the Royal Oman Police, an investigation into the incident is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting near the mosque.
