Tragedy struck in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region as at least 10 people, including children, lost their lives in a shelling incident late on Friday. The attack targeted a Russian-occupied town, with a local official attributing the blame to Ukraine.

In the aftermath of the shelling, Russian emergency services were deployed to Tokmak, a region illegally annexed by Moscow, to rescue civilians trapped under the debris of their homes. Reports indicate that three apartment blocks were hit, resulting in multiple casualties and injuries.

While the Kremlin-installed official provided details of the incident, Ukrainian authorities had not responded to the allegations by early Saturday afternoon.

Elsewhere in the country, additional civilian casualties were reported due to Russian attacks. In the Donetsk region, two individuals lost their lives as a result of shelling, according to local government sources. Tragically, a civilian driver was killed in the Chernihiv region when Russian forces targeted a car making food deliveries.

Further incidents of violence were documented in the Kharkiv region, where Russian shelling left one man trapped under rubble and another wounded. Both individuals were promptly hospitalized for treatment.

Overall, Ukrainian officials reported over a dozen civilians sustaining injuries from Russian shelling across various regions of the country. The extent of the damage and the toll on human lives underscore the ongoing conflict and its devastating impact on innocent civilians.

As the situation unfolds, the claims made by both sides remain to be independently verified, highlighting the urgent need for peace and resolution in the region.
