On the outskirts of Guatemala City, a devastating bus accident has claimed the lives of at least 51 individuals. The incident occurred early Monday morning when a multi-vehicle crash caused the bus to plunge off a bridge, as confirmed by officials.

Reports indicate that the bus fell approximately 115 feet (35 meters) into a sewage-polluted stream below, landing upside down and partially submerged. The bus was en route from Progreso, a town northeast of the capital, and tragically, children were among those who lost their lives in the accident.
