Dead Lizard in Mid-Day Meal Leaves 65 Students Sick in Chhattisgarh; Probe Ordered

Balrampur, Chhattisgarh: Sixty-five students fell violently ill after discovering a dead lizard in their mid-day meal at Gajadharpur Turripani Primary School in Chhattisgarh's Balrampur district, Dynamite News reports. The Thursday incident sent panicked staff rushing children to Kusmi Community Health Center after multiple students reported vomiting and severe stomach cramps.

According to Dynamite News sources, a Class 3 student first spotted the reptile in her rice portion, triggering immediate meal termination. District Education Officer R.K. Sahu confirmed to Dynamite News that a high-level probe has been initiated, with the meal supplier facing suspension.

"All affected children are stable after overnight observation," Kusmi CHC Medical Superintendent Dr. Neelam Verma told Dynamite News. The incident has reignited concerns about food safety in India's massive mid-day meal program serving 120 million children daily.
