Dead & Company add six more dates to residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas

Dead & Company have added six more dates to their ongoing residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas, the revolutionary $2.3 billion venue that opened its doors last year.

The new dates, which run between August 1 and 10, bring the total number of Dead & Company shows scheduled at The Sphere to 30. The band have already completed six shows, with images from the opening night suggesting that full use is being made of the building's 15,000m2 of LED screens.

Advance presale registration for the new dates is open now, while the presale itself begins Thursday, May 30 at 10am PT. The general sale will begin the following day at the same time.

The Sphere launched in September with a five-date residency from U2, a run that was swiftly extended to encompass 36 performances. Jam band Phish played four dates at the venue in late April, each with different setlists and visuals.

Dead & Company's final tour ended with a three-night stint at Oracle Park in San Francisco in July last year, with a lineup that included Bob Weir and Micky Hart alongside John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, Jeff Chimenti and Jay Lane, who stepped in to cover for Bill Kreutzmann.

Dead & Company have also paid tribute to Bill "Grateful Red" Walton, basketball legend and renowned Deadhead, who died on Monday at the age of 71 after a battle with cancer.

"Fare you well, fare you well, we love you more than words can tell," posted the band. "Bill was an irreplaceable force and spirit in our family. Father Time, Rhythm Devil, biggest deadhead ever. Over 1000 shows and couldn’t get enough. He loved this band and we loved him.

"We will miss our beloved friend, Bill Walton, deeply. Rest in peace and may the four winds blow you safely home."
