Deacon Blue have announced the launch of a limited edition whisky to celebrate the 35th anniversary of their iconic debut album Raintown .
The single malt, named after the Scottish group's hit record ‘Born in a Storm’ , is set to be released this Wednesday by Glasgow-based independent bottler Caskade.
Distilled at a secret location on Orkney and matured for 13 years in a single cask, the whisky is a bold mix of classic Orkney character and Oloroso sherry notes, making it both a fitting accompaniment to the hit album and perfect festive beverage.
But fans of the pop rock band better be quick if they want to get their hands on a bottle in time for Christmas, as only 853 will be made available to buy.
The label also features a stunning watercolour design, inspired by the wild natural spirit of the Orkney Islands, with a mixture of light and dark blues shades conjuring the image of stormy sea.
Announcing the release, Deacon Blue said: 'We are delighted to celebrate 35 years of Raintown with this special limited edition whisky, bottled by Glasgow's own Caskade. 'Born in a Storm' is a bold and enduring spirit which serves as an apt reflection of the people and places it was inspired by and a perfect accompaniment to the record.'
