DE Calais Campbell shares thoughts on returning to Jacksonville to play Jaguars

The Baltimore Ravens travel to Jacksonville to take on the 3-7 Jaguars in Week 12. Baltimore will be looking to improve their record to 8-3 and extend their winning streak to five, while Jacksonville is coming off of a bye week in Week 11.

In the contest, a big storyline is Ravens defensive lineman Calais Campbell returning to a place where he called home for three seasons. From 2017-2019, Campbell was a stud on a talented Jaguars defense, making the Pro Bowl in all three seasons in Jacksonville. Campbell talked about returning to Jacksonville, calling it a bit sentimental but also made sure to make it clear that he’s not looking too far in the past.

“It’s a little sentimental, I guess, but really it’s just another football game. It’s cool because I did spend three years there. It seems like it was a lot longer than it really was; it was just three or four years, but I had a lot of fun there. [I] had success on the football field, but at the same time my mindset is like stay in the moment; you don’t really dwell on the past, and you can’t really look too far forward in the future. It’s kind of stay in the moment, so for me, it’s just another opportunity to get a big win [and] put ourselves in position to go where we want to go.”

Baltimore traded a fifth-round pick for Campbell before the 2020 season, and so far it has worked out well for the team. The veteran has been a leader on the field and in the locker room, which is exactly what the Ravens envisioned when trading for him.
