The Sacramento Kings have been one of the more disappointing teams of the 2024-25 season. They’ve fallen far short of expectations over the first 2+ months of the regular season, and took the league by surprise when they fired head coach Mike Brown last week amidst their current 6-game losing streak. There have been plenty of rumors surrounding point guard De’Aaron Fox regarding both his on-court performance and his potentially turbulent relationship with the now-former coach, but the player himself addressed the issues via Twitter/X on Monday morning.
De’Aaron Fox: “There Was Never Any Pushback”
Over the summer, the Kings reportedly offered De’Aaron Fox a contract extension that would keep him in Sacramento long-term. But the offer was turned down, and it was said that Fox wanted to see the general direction that the team was taking before he made a commitment. Due to the slow start by the team, those murmurs began to grow. It got to the point where his agent, Rich Paul, was spotted at a recent game and assumptions were that he was in town to speak to Sacramento’s front office.
Many have even speculated that Fox would be asking for a trade, or that the team would be the ones to pull the trigger given his reluctance to sign an extension. Rumors have been floated, and teams like the Spurs, Rockets, and Nuggets have been said to have at least some level of interest.
There was never any push back about anything. This narrative of us butting heads or me going to management saying anything is bullshit. So you can run with that if you want to. https://t.co/z5rBpWmail

On Monday morning, former NBA guard Lou Williams spoke on Run It Back on FanDuelTV, and shared his thoughts about the situation. He mentioned that there was some “push back” from De’Aaron Fox when Mike Brown challenged him and singled him out, both publicly and behind the scenes. The clip of Williams speaking was posted to Twitter/X, and Fox responded quickly from his personal account. He argued the notion that there was push back from him, saying that the narrative of he and the coach butting heads is “bullshit”.
The Kings will need to see a serious turnaround if they hope to salvage the current season. Thanks to their current 6-game losing streak, their record has dropped to 13-19, and they are currently in 12th place in the Western Conference. They are closer to being passed by the 13th place Trail Blazers than they are to the 10th seed, and have some seriously tough games coming up on the schedule.
On Monday night, they’ll take on the Dallas Mavericks, and will see the Grizzlies, Warriors, and Heat over the next week. The following week, they’ll take on both the Celtics and Bucks on the road.
De’Aaron Fox is averaging 26.3 points per game, and is one of the leaders in steals after finishing with the best theft average last season.
